About Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport
Sydney Kingsford Smith is Australia's busiest airport. Located at Mascot, NSW 2020, ~8 km south of the Sydney CBD, it is the primary international gateway for New South Wales.
The airport operates three passenger terminals, each handling distinct airline groups. Terminal 1 is Sydney's only international terminal — every overseas flight departs and arrives through T1. Terminal 2 is the domestic hub for Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Rex. Terminal 3 is dedicated exclusively to Qantas and QantasLink. T2 and T3 are walking distance from each other; T1 is on the opposite side of the runway and connected only by free shuttle bus or paid taxi.
Reaching SYD without a private transfer creates predictable headaches. Long-term parking exceeds $50 per day. Taxis quote variable metered fares with a $5 airport surcharge. Rideshare apps surge dramatically during peak hours. The Airport Link train charges a $17.20 station access fee per adult on top of the ticket. A pre-booked Prime Rider transfer eliminates every one — fixed price, professional driver, mobile-coordinated pickup at the correct terminal.
